I got my second tattoo done by Daryl at Wingnut in Anoka, MN. I drew the design for my tattoo, but Daryl tweaked it, and made it look amazing!
And this tattoo has been long over do for me! I drew my design about three years ago, which was supposed to be a birthday present to myself. The tattoo is dedicated it to my uncle (and godfather), who had passed away when I was really young. I didn’t get to know him that well, but I always watched home videos with him in it, and heard many stories about him. The feather resembles him, and my Native American culture as well. The rose stands for the passion I have in my life for all of the things that I love.

My name is Caidyn. I’m a 19 year old recovering alcoholic from Washington. I got these knuckle tattoo’s in January of this year and I just recently got them touched up because they had faded quite a lot.
I’ve wanted knuckle tattoos since I was around 14 and had a lot of ideas of what I wanted to get, but wanted to make sure that I did not get something that someone else already had. (Which is really hard and close to impossible to do when it comes to tattoos) I’m not sure if I succeeded but either way, I got what I got and I’m happy with that
I decided to get “Born Poet” for the fact that when I was 15, I tried writing poetry just to mess around and try something new and found that I had a natural talent for it and everyone I showed my work to, loved it and gave me uplifting comments for my writing ability. And I chose the colors lime green, black, and white because lime green is my favorite color and I just love how well black, lime green, and white compliment each other.
These knuckle tattoos inspire me to remain in my writing and remind me how much I need to keep writing in my life. Especially in recovery because I struggle with not opening up with people no matter how close I am to them. So writing gives me an escape I need and keeps me from remaining in my addiction.

It started as a doodle on the corner of a French participles worksheet, and things kind of just escalated from there. But I couldn’t imagine anything else that has as much meaning, as much comfort, as much inspiration, and as much place on my skin as this tattoo.

Looking for Alaska is my favourite book, there is something so brilliant and heartwarming about it that everyone can relate to.
However, the main reason why I got this quote on my body is because it is something I have learned to live by. I was sexually assaulted a few years back causing me to spiral into a pit of depression. Until I began to forgive the man who did it to me I finally began to be able to see the light of happiness again!

This was a little birthday present to myself. It is a French word, which translated into English means “stay”. I got this because all through my life I have suffered with separation anxiety, rooted in my parents divorcing when I was old enough to feel the repercussions. It’s a reminder that only the people who are important in my life will stay, and that I need to stay strong through whatever life throws my way. I’m so in love with it and Marshall was an absolute delight to have work on me.

I got this tattoo in Oshkosh, WI at Big Guns. It was done by Jon, who is absolutely amazing, and also tattooed a rose on me previously. I got the sunflowers because my friends and I, one summer, stole some sunflower seeds and planted them in my dad’s garden. He said they were the tallest he’d ever seen. In short, these sunflowers are to symbolize my childhood.
