When I was young my nana took care of me, she always had a bunch of lilies in her house. Usually white but come summer she’d have beautiful orange and pastel pinks too, they were my fondest memories. Running around and causing havoc in her house. Cutting out the yellow pollen with her so we didnt scatter it all over her beautiful cream living room. About 8 years ago she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, only giving her a few months to live. We were all devistated. I tried to forget and block it out and we never really talked about it but she was a fighter. She wasn’t going down without a great fight and she proved everyone wrong, she lived to see me turn 18, my sister turn 16 and she even lived to become a great grandmother. Something she thought she’d miss out on!
This november I lost her, my best friend. My life. I’ve been a broken person ever since but i’m getting there now, remembering the good times. Those summer mornings, the lilies, her smile. I couldn’t think of a better way to remember her beauty more perminantly than this.
Two lilies, one for you nan. One for me. You helped me blossom into who I am today, for that I’ll be eternally greatful. I know i’ll never forget you but now a part of you, our memories, are there for everyone to see. I love you nana.

It also addresses imagination, insanity, dreams, reality and a whole lot of other things I think about way too often.

So this is my first, and probably not last tattoo. On friday the 15th of February, there was an event here in Norway, where a tattoo cost 500 NOK (85 $ ) and all the money went to cancer research for kids. So it was for a good cause. I like my little birds on my leg.
