My 4th tattoo, and my favorite out of them all. My grandfather was a marine and had an anchor on his upper arm. In memory of him, I got this. I also got the “I refuse to sink”, because whatever I may be going through, I have to remember to always stand tall and never give up.

I got it done at Quillian in Pennsylvania.

Ruby-throated hummingbird and a yellow rose I got on my 18th birthday at Death or Glory Tattoos in Dallas, Texas by Thomas. Only took an hour and a half, and it’s absolutely perfect - better than I have ever dreamed!

My great grandmother, who passed back in ‘06, used to have hummingbirds at her bird feeders all the time, and we would always sit outside and watch them by her rose garden. This tattoo is in her honor so that I will always have her with me, even on my wedding day. The rose being yellow was a last minute decision, and I’m so glad I made it - it makes all of the colors stand out, and it also represents Texas, where I have lived all of my life.

My tattoo is of the outline of Mount Susitna, a mountain that overlooks the city in Anchorage Alaska. It was done by Trevor in Bozeman, MT. It has an enormous amount of meaning behind it, since my house in Alaska overlooks the entire city, the bay, and Mount Susitna is the backdrop. It took us a while to get it right, but I absolutely LOVE it.

The Conjoined twin image comes from the cover of a book on the struggles, loves, and triumphs of Human Oddities. The image and message of the book resonated with me and I feel like the conjoined twins accurately represent how I feel about my mental health.

On their faces was a strangely luminous smile.

I got this done on February 16th at Evermore Gallery in Edwardsville, Illinois.

It’s a simple phrase; cliche, to some, but it’s a phrase I continuously remind myself of when I’m struggling.
