This is my 3/4 sleeve that i sat for from March to September (8 sessions, 3-6 hours each). Designed by me, drawn and inked by Tim DeRose in Chicago. He did everything on my arm except the flowers on top of my shoulder, the triquetera (which was my very first tat a few years ago), and the eye/key on my wrist.
The main idea behind this sleeve is basic, really. I mainly just wanted to decorate my right arm, for a few reasons. 1) I am an artist 2) I am not religious, but i do feel spiritual about the imagination that goes on in my brain, that flows down my right arm and out of my hand to become art, and 3) I wanted the commitment of having a sleeve. I didn’t want to be one of those girls that has a couple small tattoos and thinks they’re awesome. I really wanted to show I was invested in this artform. I have plans for more tats in the future (probably on my ankles, next)
The triquetera is meant to be a protective symbol. The eye/key/sword symbolizes the Third eye (the seeing eye) that i relate to artistic vision here. the key points upwards towards my head, to unlock the imagination there.
Thanks for looking.
