When I was 16, I had gotten some godawful guns tattooed on my hips, in some dude’s house, and it sure LOOKED like it!! I had then tried to get them reworked by a better artist, but they were still pretty terrible, only darker now- I hated them so much, making me very insecure about what should be a beautiful part of my body. After years of numerous laser sessions (double the ink = double the laser!!) when my modelling career began to blossom, and it was high time for the fading guns to finally get covered. I needed to be proud of my body and show confidence as well as a quality artwork in all of my photos instead of what could have passed for a “prison tat”. Ken Dean was the artist who drew up this piece - I had no idea what I wanted when I approached him. I knew I wanted an eye to represent truth- knowing yourself and recognizing the world around you no matter what misinformation or zeitgeist society insists you accept as the truth - the world “they” want you to believe, and the world that really exists - and the ability to distinguish the difference… I allowed my artist to run wild with the possibilities beyond that! The unicorns were Ken’s idea and just fit the size of where the guns once were, and the whole thing came together beautifully. My coverup has given me my confidence back, and I absolutely love the style and artwork!!
