I love pirates. As a child, the annual visit to my grandparents’ in California also included a trip to DisneyLand where I would insist on going on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride - no exceptions, the length of the line did not matter. I fell in love. This fixation on pirates was fed by other things like Muppets Treasure Island, Hook, Scooby Doo Zombie Island, and Tales of The Black Freighter from Watchmen, to name only few examples. Pirates somehow came to be a dominant component to my childhood.
The life of the mythological pirate continues to enchant me - Traveling on a magnificent ship - your home, up on the open tumultuous sea just looking for adventure.
