My tattoo is the beginning of a sleeve dedicated to black and white films that I have come across in my academic studies of film. The first piece is an iconic image from George Méliès’ 1902 film Le Voyage dans la Lune, widely considered to be the first science-fiction film and pivotal in forming conventions of narrative and genre that are evident in cinema today. I wanted to pay tribute to an iconic image and to show my ambition to be a filmmaker and an academic in the study of film.
