I’ve been wanting this for so long. I’ve had my bouts with being depressed and I got through every day based solely on this perspective. I always wondered how I could keep making it to the next day. And it happened because of my friends and family and most importantly music. When I heard this song for the first time it really stuck with me. Sometimes that’s all it takes, focus on what you have and don’t let it beat you. Happiness is out there.

My first tattoo, on Alicante (Spain). The triqueta is a talisman of celtic origin that symbolizes life, death and rebirth. Alludes to the three dimensions of the sacred feminine: maiden, mother and crone. It also represents equality, eternity and indivisibility. Also plasma Celtic philosophy that the All has three levels: physical, mental and spiritual.

Growing up, I had a few sets of grandparents on either side of my family. When I was younger, to differentiate between them, we had to give them all different names. My father’s mother had an iconic exclamation: “Oh, Mercy!” Consequently, she was named Oh Mercy Grandma.

This is a tattoo of her signature, copied from one of my old birthday cards. This is my remembrance of her – my way of holding onto the memories, etched into my skin; it’s a reminder of how much she helped me grow. It represents who she was to me, and now, I’ll always have a piece of her to carry around, no matter where life takes me.
