This is my newest addition. It’s on the center of my back, and was kind of a last minute tattoo. Chelsea, an apprentice at Evolution in Mantua, NJ, a shop that I have been going to for a while for two of my other pieces, was finishing up her hours to become an official artist and was doing tattoos for 20 dollars, so I figured why not? She does a lot of really cute animals doing human things, so I decided to combine the love for my parrot Oliver (named after the old movie Oliver Twist), and my love for drinking tea. It’s probably my silliest tattoo, but I absolutely love it.

its from the  Dr. Seuss book “Are You My Mother” which is the one book that my mom used to always read to me as a little girl.
it was one of the worse pain i’ve been through but it was totally worth it!

When I got a job at a tattoo shop, I promised myself I’d wait 6 months before getting any large tattoos, to make sure they were well-thought out and not based on the excitement of a new adventure.  It’s been almost a year now.  The one tattoo I’ve thought and thought about, since before I had any tattoos at all, was a lion.  C.S. Lewis is my favorite author, Narnia is my favorite series, and Aslan is my comfort when I’m feeling off.  Having a lion on my body was something that I wanted as a reminder of hope, and protection, and love, and frisky behavior.

Problem was, I always felt like traditional style lions were too cartoon-y… not fierce enough to portray that feeling of protection.  (aka I’ll rip your arms off your body if you hurt her) and realistic ones seemed too stoic.  Not down to tumble around and be cuddly and loving when the time came.  So I never got one.

A few months ago, I was at work and one of our artists came in carrying a sheet of flash he just completed.  On it were these spotted, full of energy creatures that I just fell in love with.  I asked Small Paul what they were.  He says, “Oh, these?  Shishis! Chinese Guardian Lions.”  Immediately, I knew what I wanted.

Done by Small Paul at the Original True Tattoo in Hollywood, CA.  Great artist, great shop.

My tattoo represents the first polaroid camera in my collection of polaroids that i acquire. It happens to be the camera that my grandfather (best friend) owned, his birth and death dates are in the ribbon. My good friend, Michael Leger was the artist. I had helped him to get more business since his old shop closed down, so he put this beautiful piece on me for free. Anyways, he’s moving eight hours away, so sadly, I’ll only have the honors of letting him color my body once more before that happens. I’m going to miss him dearly, but will always be down for a roadtrip to visit.

This is my Archelon skeleton. It is the largest prehistoric sea turtle ever discovered. This photo was taken minutes after it was done, and it is missing a foot because the Archelon skeleton found by Pierre Shale only had one foot, and I wanted it just the way it was found. I got it done at Hallowed Grounds in Portland, Maine, by Warren, and I couldn’t be happier!

A little more than a month ago I got my first tattoo. It was done by Jorge Moreno at Trinity Tattoo in Longwood, Florida. I know that dreamcatchers are getting a bit cliche, but it represents my father to me. When I was young he traveled a lot to the West and would bring home dreamcatchers for me as a souvenir. The skull represents my mom because ever since I was little she’s had a similar skull displayed in her house. Since there’s been so much death and illness in my family recently, I thought something family oriented would be a good place to start as my first tattoo. :]

So, I was born with my toes like this, glued together, stuck on one each other, is something that my family has. Everybody always ask me why don’t I divide them, the fact is that I like them this way, it’s just my way, so I thought it would be a fun and unique tattoo.

I’ve always loved henna, it’s beautiful, classy and so feminine.  Hand tattoos are so beautiful and I’ve thought about this for a long time, especially because of my profession.  Finally I decided to make my henna permanent!
At first, I was hesitant to get the work done on my hand, but here is what changed my mind.  I lost a close friend recently, spent a fair amount of time with him in the hospital as he was dying… as I thought and reflected on this loss, I decided that life was too short  to keep on worrying about what others would think and say…
So I went to Planet NY, in Poughkeepsie, and spoke to Greg, told him what I wanted, brought in pictures.  A couple of weeks later I was back to get tattooed.  He was great, listened to me.  He carefully incorporated an old wrist tattoo and was very accepting of the changes I wanted.  The best part: he was totally excited to do this because it was so different than the rest of his work.  Since, he’s added a paisley to the left and we’re talking about more… more… more…

this represents my love for music, rock n roll and Fender Stratocaster. The Strat was the first guitar I ever bought, so it reminds me of earlier times, when I started playing what would become my passion.

it was done as Led’s Tattoo, São Paulo, Brazil, by Tino.

My first tattoo - the Polaroid logo!

I got this little cutie on my wrist because I’m studying to be a photographer at the moment, I basically just love taking and editing photos! The colours were changed slightly so the it looks more balanced, and when the healing process is complete, I’ll be going back to get it touched up, but I’m very happy with it! :D Danny Charles @ True Gent Tattoos, Lincolnshire has some amazing work, he was the ideal person for the job!

Hello, this is my third tattoo, done by Naomi at The Tattooed Heart in Auckland, New Zealand.

I got it done at the end of my trip trough New Zealand because this 5 months journey made me find myself while discovering amazing places.

A lighthouse means to me finding peace through the storm. Above it you can read 36°59’22” 174°28’22” which is the location of the most peaceful place I’ve ever seen in the whole world. I got this tattoo because I felt, at this location, that I was getting over my depression and my sadness, and it makes me think about how happy I can be if I decided to.
