This was my first tattoo by mark at markedforlife. I was SO nervous I almost backed out but it was totally fine and I started to believe what i was told by a friend that it actually tickles a bit! I’ll definitlely be back for more, got some ideas for a mermaid and a quote or two. Marked for life are brilliant and i’ll definitely be going there for all my tattoos!

I got this in memory of my great-grandmother. She used to collect trunk-up elephant figurines and she passed away in October at the age of 98.

Hello! This is a closeup of my healed chest piece. Someone else submitted it when it was newly done, so I figured I’d send in an update. If anyone in the Chicago area wants to get something done, I highly, HIGHLY recommend going to David. He managed to do my entire piece within a 9 hour period. I healed with no complications, no fading, no color loss, nothing. I started the piece last June, so this photo is after about 8 to 9 months after the first of two sessions.

This is my first tattoo, and probably my last. It says “Non Carbarundum Illegitimi”, which means “Don’t let the bastards get you down”. Its a mock latin phrase that gained popularity just after WWII. I got it because my grandfather used to say this to my mom, and my mom to me. My grandfather passed away 2 days into the new year, and this is a tribute to him. It’s also written in my mom’s handwriting, and located on my left side, close to my heart forever. It was done by Danny Derrick at San Luis Tattoo Co.

Here’s a photo of me with my entire piece fully outlined and half way done. Since there’s multiple images in one photo I felt making this all black and white would help you see the details better. I only stick too black ink and sometimes grey on my body because to me my skin is the color. I got this tattoo for many personal reasons, but mainly because I just fucking love getting tattoos.
