As a child, I had severe arachnaphobia. Even now, spiders will always give me the creeps. But my spider has many different meanings to me. My spider allows me to face my fears everyday and overcome them. & I’m also a biology student so it’s just a piece of the natural world that I dedicate my life to. I am absolutely in love with it !

My Salvidor Dali piece completely finished. I think that this was the fourth sitting on it. A solid ten hours into it.
The Burning Giraffe really struck me when I saw it, and after reading the back story behind it, it seemed fitting to be my first big tattoo. The drawers on her leg are supposed to symbolize the compartments of the human mind, and since I’m going to be a psychology major next fall, that seemed perfect.

This is my soulless record sales man tattoo. It is from the Pink Floyd album Wish You Were Here. It’s a great piece of art from Storm Thorgerson, famous for many record covers. Collecting records I’ve come to appreciate album art work and will end up with a lot of it on my skin. I want to get the photo from the front of the record done as well, the dude was actually on fire and a picture was taken. Badass. It was done in one session, at the end I ended up cursing the brief case, it hurt the worst. The tattoo was done by the amazing Frank Speak of Emporium Of Design in Denver. This is my 6th or 7th Elton John themed tattoo. I actually did this tattoo on myself so its not necessarily the best quality (as it is right under my kneecap which was hard for me to reach). I was brought up listening to Elton John’s amazing music since I was about 4 years old thanks to my father. My first concert EVER was seeing Elton John in San Antonio, TX when I was 11 years old. This is only one part of my EJ tattoo collection. Its close to my heart especially because ‘Harmony’ is one of my father’s favorite EJ songs. When I look at this tattoo, it reminds me of me and my fathers close bond.

My first tattoo for my 19th birthday :D It’s a quote by Emily Dickinson that I found on tumblr (ironyyyyyyy) and I LOVE it for many reasons: first because i’m a writer, and I love poetry, and Dickinson is a poet. I also love quotes. Secondly I think it represents something about myself that I tend to do: be optimistic, dwell in the possibility of good things happening no matter how slim the chance of a good outcome is. Many people have told me this tattoo is such a “me” thing, which makes me love it even more :) Done in London Ontario at True Love Tattoo by Sean/Shawn (….sorry)
