This is my film and media sleeve done by Stu at Hawkeye’s Tattoo Carnival in Cleveleys, England. It was a rescue job after my first artist made a bit of a mess. Parts are still settling in and I may need a little more work, but I’m so happy with it. Media and film are my passions, and I’m studying Broadcast Journalism at University, so this is my tribute.

I wanted a tattoo to symbolize my passion for the outdoors. I always have the urge to go hiking or end up climbing. I hate being bored at home, I want to go explore the world. I want to explore my surrounds and go were life leads me. Just, explore.

“At first glance, this is a simply a charming painting of a small child reaching for her lost heart-shaped balloon, with the balloon being the one and only bright spot of color in the work. A balloon can be more than a balloon though. A balloon can be symbolic. And this balloon is heart-shaped. It can stand for our dreams, our aspirations, even for innocence or love. Has the balloon escaped, or has the child released it? Does the balloon represent something lost, or does it represent a gift being bestowed to the world? Is the child trying to reclaim her lost innocence, her lost childhood, a lost love, or has she released the balloon, asking the world to accept those things as her innocent gift?”

I got this on New Years Eve at Rose of No Mans Land in Woodbury, Minnesota by Kyle Franklin. It was absolutely perfect, and I couldn’t of asked for more.

I got this tattoo from an artist in Venezuela named Pedro.

My mom died two months ago and this was a simple reminder about what she wanted for me and lead the pain -

“You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what she’d want: Smile, open your eyes, love and go on”.
