The Deathly Hallows done on my wrist by Connie at Sacred Eagle, Herkimer NY, USA.

I’ve wanted to get this done for years and I’m so excited to have finally been able to make it happen. Harry Potter was the first novel I’ve ever read, and I’ve loved it since I was six. It’s been such a huge part of my life and has taught me so much that I felt it was only right to get it inked on me. I chose the Hallows because I felt it would best symbolize the series.

The ouroboros takes on many different meanings, but my favorite is the continual recreation of self. This perpetual cycle of acquiring knowledge and experience is something that all of us face every day. I chose it as my newest tattoo because I wanted something to remind me to keep working towards my goals. No matter how much wisdom we attain there will always be new learning opportunities. The end of one cycle is the beginning of another.

“I feel that a man is a very important thing - maybe more important than a star. This is not theology. I have no bent toward gods. But I have a new love for that glittering instrument, the human soul. It is a lovely and unique thing in the universe. It is always attacked and never destroyed - because ‘Thou mayest.’”

I grew up reading and watching Harry Potter, and it ended up being one of the only consistent things in my childhood. I always gravitated torwards the more darker aspects of the book, but I got this to pay homage to the greatest thing to ever happen to me as a child. It kept me happy and hopeful.

This picture was taken a few moments after i got it done, so it is incredibly swollen. i plan on submitting a healed one so that the colors are more visible as well. i got this tattoo today while in florida, although i’m from canada, because that has been one of my dreams since i was young; to get a tattoo in my favorite place in the world.
this song has always been my favorite pink floyd song, but as i’ve gotten older, it has become special to me on a deeper level. pink floyd has been getting me through a lot lately, especially this song, so i am especially stoked to have this tattoo.
i have my mom to thank for my taste in music, as she brought me up listening to pink floyd and other amazing bands from before my time. i was lucky enough to have her hand to hold today when it got painful.
the tattoo is based on something i painted not too long ago, and decided i would love to have it as a tattoo. I went to Pleasures of the Flesh in Fort Myers, Florida and it was Aaron that made it come to life. he was so awesome and helpful with tying the design together for the tattoo. he is extremely talented and i would highly recommend him and the shop to anyone in the area, or going to be in the area.

I just thought they were adorable, and I love all of Miyazaki’s films. It was so hard to make a decision on just one thing from his movies.

not a super picture, but after waiting years and deciding long and hard, I finally got the anchor tattoo for my Grammy Baran.

My Grammy has been dealing with Alzheimer’s Disease for awhile now, and while thankfully she’s still around, shedoesn’t remember much at all. It’s been painful watching her go through this. She always was and always will be one of my biggest heroes and inspirations in my life.

Long ago, when Grampsy passed away, I’d visit her every day. After school, on weekends and days off. Hell, I’d even fake sick just to leave school early to see her and make sure she was alright. We always sat at her kitchen table, talking about life for hours, and she’d give me the best advice. We used to colour and draw together, and one day she and I got a big piece of paper, and drew what we both loved and what made us smile. Being a silly little child, I drew the sun, because it made me smile. She drew a simple anchor, and I was confused. She said, “After Grampsy passing, I feel like my friends and family are my anchors. They keep me here, keep me grounded.”

I’ve never had a memory touch me as much as that one. To some, this tattoo may seem like a stereotypical anchor tattoo because it’s the “cool thing” to get. To me, it actually holds so much more. I try living by her words, finding happiness in anything to keep me grounded, especially now more than ever as I’m recovering from my self harm addiction.

There’s also a forget-me-not flower on the anchor, using that as a reminder that she’s somewhere in her mind. The old Grammy. The real Barbara Baran. I know how into preserving memories she was, and I’m the same, if not more into it because of watching her go through Alzheimer’s from the beginning.

This wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for Derek from A Psychic Unicorn in Kingston, PA and his wonderful artwork. I couldn’t be happier with this. So, thank you. I’ll always have this meaningful memory, and a part of her with me, a good part that will never fade away.

I went to a private school in high school and I had to take a religion class. We discussed a lot about the chapter of Matthew. Matthew 28:20 says “I am with you always until the end of the age.” it always stayed with me and I knew I wanted to get it tatted on me.

The tattoo was done by Tattoo Tim in Kent, WA.
