My fresh paper airplane tattoo. Got it for a number of reasons, all in memory of my Grandpa George:

1) He taught me how to make paper planes (thought I’m still not very good). As a kid, we’d throw them over the balcony above the kitchen while my grandma made dinner as an attempt to scare her. Also, paper planes have this feeling of whimsy and playfulness which describes Grandpa George’s approach to life.

2) He was a pilot in WW2; something that I greatly admire about him and that I also had a lot to do with how he became the great person he was.

3) the plane being made of paper makes me think of the letters he’d write. They came often and were filled with praise and loving words for my sister and me. And he always signed each one: “Loads of Love, George”. That’s also how he signed his first Army Air Corps photo he sent home to his mother.

I like that I have something to always carry with me and remind me of so many good things.

This is my 3rd tattoo, but I’d say my first REAL one. It’s on my forearm and its mine and my tattoo artists’ interpretation of the Bright Eyes EP Every Day and Every Night’s cover art. Bright Eyes has meant so much to me for years and years, and has helped me feel less alone. Conor Oberst kind of knows how to put what I’m feeling into words better than I can. Bright Eyes will always hold a very big and special place in my heart. I’m so happy with my tattoo. ^-^

I got this done at Timeless Tattoo in Los Angeles, by James Spooner. He does 100 percent vegan tattoos and is an amazing artist, go check him out!

This is my third tattoo. Liz Reyes from Oddity in Main in Sarasota, Florida did a wonderful job. I got this tattoo after my great-grandmother Pearl passed away. She helped raise me and my sister, so she was an important part of my life. She had her garden and every year she would grow tulips. Each tulip is in different blooming stages to represent stages of life. The stargazer is my favorite flower. And the string of pearls not only represent her name but a reminder of how precious someone can be.

Taken right out of the chair, on one fine summer day in Pennsylvania. The artist is the man who apprenticed me, Dan Kline. Amazing artist and great guy. Never forget your roots, that is why I got a keystone the Pa state symbol where it won’t be so easily overlooked.

This is my first tattoo and certainly not my last. The reason I got this tattoo was the way the Lotus Flower grows. This beautiful flower grows on top of the water nothing can demolish it. Its meaning of not being touched by the surface it grown on meant a lot to me. It became special to me and every time I traveled this flower would appear. When I would go through many obstacles this image would always show up.  After losing loved ones and still standing I decided to get this tattooed.

I got this tattoo at “Body and Soul Tattoo” in Sherman Oaks, California. My tattoo artist was Dani Rachmann. It was a wonderful experience.

“I want you to listen to me very carefully, Harry. You’re not a bad person. You’re a very good person, who bad things have happened to. Besides, the world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters. We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.” - Sirius Black

These are my first tattoos. “Lumos” the spell for light and “Nox” the counter spell. I am a part of the Hogwarts generation and I have learned so much from J.K. Rowling and all the world she created. This quote is especially meaningful to me, my father and I haven’t had the best relationship since I was about 12 and he betrayed my trust. I like to think of this tattoo as a way to remind myself that he is not a bad person and that everyone can fall into the dark sometimes.

The Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books were some of my favorite as a kid and creeped me out. So in the spirit of Halloween I got this around Halloween time on my thigh.

There isn’t much behind this tattoo besides that I love elephants and I feel like it represents me as the strong, independent, and beautiful woman I am. I can hold my own and will never be held down by anyone or anything.

My first tattoo! I got it because I always wanted my tattoo to have something to do with music. This one is a Hilary Duff song. She was my idol growing up. Also, because the song is about taking chances and risks, and living for yourself so you don’t mold into someone you’re not. As I just started college, I thought this was also appropriate! Here’s my tumblr
